Administering Assessment Activities
Assessment activities are intended to provide students with an opportunity to engage with a complex phenomenon and demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and dispositions in a domain. Because of this, activity administration may end with individual students having only partially grasped the phenomena. In other words, it’s alright for students to leave the classroom without knowing “the answer.” As educators, it’s natural for us to want to get every student to the highest levels of attainment possible, but to rush this process may undermine the powerful motivation that can come from having only a partial understanding of the phenomenon. Students who are asking questions are ready to participate in additional learning experiences related to the activity.
